Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved houses. I remember looking at homes through the car window as we drove, noticing especially the old and run down ones. I wanted nothing more than to grab a paint brush and spend the day smoothing out their rough edges. I loved the homes and the potential of the lives to be lived within them. I wanted to explore inside every unique building we passed and would imagine what each day would look like from the view of a different kitchen window. In my minds eye, I’d look out from a country cottage through rippled glass with sunlight pouring in over fresh produce to see a quiet garden growing in the yard or from an urban loft with art covered walls, taking in the sights and sounds of the city buzzing below. I just wanted to scoop up every forgotten farm house and dilapidated brick building and love them back to life. In my adult experience, I have had the extreme privilege of getting to indulge my child fantasies of reclaiming and reviving many homes and spaces.
